Brand New Chuck Taylor's II

It’s remarkable to think that since the inception of the Chuck Taylor All Star in 1917, the shoe has remained virtually unchanged, yet continues to be one of the world’s most celebrated sneakers of all time–effectively serving as one of the many reasons why teasers on behalf of Converse regarding a forthcoming Chuck Taylor All Star II may have come as a bit of a surprise. After all, what could they possibly do to improve upon such an iconic shoe? Today, however, we received our answer, as the brand officially unveiled its most notable launch in recent history to select media outlets in Boston.

Quite similar to the original on first glance, the newest addition to the Converse family is actually quite improved. While details such as the white foxing, rubber toe-cap and statement All Star patch remain, the Chuck II boasts plenty of revamped and premium features. For starters, the shoe boasts some technology courtesy of its parent company, Nike, as it utilizes a Lunarlon sockliner, which provides for superior cushioning and comfort. Additionally, the updated model is designed with durable premium canvas, and comes equipped with a foam padded collar and non-slip gusseted tongue, a perforated microsuede liner for breathability during extended periods of wear, and a fully embroidered All Star patch.

Set to officially hit Converse stores, select retailers, and on Tuesday, July 28, the Chuck Taylor All Star II will be available in black, white, red, and blue. Check them out in the gallery above and via the video below.
