RON ENGLISH X TOYQUBE RELEASE “BOXING BRAIN” SCULPTURE

If you’ve been to New York City in the past few weeks – or follow friends on social media who have – chances are that you’ve seen Ron English’s menacing “Baby Hulk” mural plastered across the Bowery Wall in downtown Manhattan. As awesome as it is though, you can’t take it with you. Luckily, the renowned American artist has teamed up with ToyQube to bring you a new piece of art that you can add to your collection at home.

Known for using his artwork to comment on consumer culture in America, English focuses his art on a big business that’s been in the news a lot lately with his latest work. A sculpture of a brain in the shape of a boxing glove, “Boxing Brain” delivers an allusion to the repeated blows to the head that fighters endure in the ring, as implied by the word “Temporal” painted onto the wrist area of the glove in the style of boxing brand Everlast’s logo.

Ron English first unveiled “Boxing Brain” in its early stages (see below) at last year’s DesignerCon. The final version of the sculpture, which is limited to only 300 pieces, can be seen in the gallery above and is available for purchase now via ToyQube.

Did we(Clothes Minded) mention we absolutely love this collaboration!
